It is difficult to keep up with the ownership and fortunes of Hadrian Yard in Wallsend. Recent owners have been AMEC and OGN (Offshore Group Newcastle), but the current activity on the site is being undertaken by the Belgian Smulders Group. The new work consists of submersible jackets for offshore wind turbines. It is very good to see the yard active again, supporting green energy.
This is the former British Short Circuit Testing Station in Victoria Road West, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear. The building, which was once part of Reyrolle, is due for demolition. Further information is available from the Jarrow and Hebburn Gazette.
